Description
Cormelle Sideboard
Sometimes you do not need a six-foot credenza. You need one small cabinet that closes, holds the things with no home, and can be pushed out of the way when the room needs to change. The Cormelle Sideboard is a compact rolling storage cabinet in solid wood with stainless steel, 26.77" wide, 14.17" deep, and 23.15" tall. It suits apartments, rentals, and rooms where furniture has to do more than one job.
The size is the point. At just over two feet wide and a shade over 14 inches deep, it slides into the gap beside a sofa, under a window, or at the end of a kitchen run where nothing else fits. Solid wood gives it weight and a grain you can feel with your hand, and the stainless steel keeps the frame tight and adds a cool line against the warm timber. Casters mean you can roll it to the couch for snacks, to the table when you are serving, and back to the wall afterward.
At 23.15" tall it sits at sofa-arm height, so the top surface is right where you want to set a drink, a book, or a lamp while seated. Inside, it holds the awkward small stuff: glassware and a bottle or two, remotes and chargers, art supplies, a pet's things, printer paper. Everything is behind a door, which is what makes a piece this small still look calm rather than like open shelving with a pile on it.
Why It Works
- 26.77" wide, 14.17" deep, small enough for the gap beside a sofa or the end of a kitchen wall.
- Rolls where you need it, so it can be a side table, a drinks cabinet, and a printer stand in one week.
- Solid wood with stainless steel, so it has real weight and a crisp metal line instead of a hollow feel.
- 23.15" height lands at sofa-arm level, comfortable to reach for a drink or lamp while you are sitting down.
- Closed storage in a small footprint, which keeps the clutter out of sight in rooms where every surface is visible.
Ideal Placements
- Beside the sofa in a small living room. It works as a side table with storage: remotes and chargers in, drink and lamp on top, and you can roll it forward on movie night.
- A kitchen or dining corner with no counter left. Use it as a small bar or serving cart, then wheel it to the table when you are plating.
- A home office or spare bedroom. Printer, paper, and cables live inside; the top holds a plant or a lamp, and it moves when you rearrange.
Styling Pairings
Small wood-and-steel pieces pair best with things that have some softness. Set it next to a linen or bouclé sofa in oatmeal, clay, or deep green, with a jute or wool flat-weave rug underneath. If you already own black metal lighting or a steel-legged coffee table, this echoes it; unlacquered brass accents also read well against warm wood, just pick one metal and stay with it.
Keep the top to two or three things because the surface is compact: a short ceramic lamp or a small trailing plant, a stacked pair of books, and a little tray or bowl for keys. Skip anything tall or top-heavy since the piece rolls. A framed print leaning on the wall behind it looks better here than a large hung piece.
Vibe & Aesthetic
Warm modern with a light industrial edge. Honest wood, visible steel, no ornament, practical lines. It fits mid-century, Scandinavian, and modern minimalist rooms, and it is at home in an apartment where furniture needs to be easy to move.
