Description
Kelmora Dining Chair
An all-wood dining chair with a slim footprint, for small dining rooms and for households that are hard on furniture.
At 16.14 inches deep, this is a genuinely compact chair. If your table sits in a walkway, or in the corner of a kitchen, or anywhere you have to edge past someone to get through, those saved inches are the difference between a room that works and one that doesn't. It pushes all the way under the table and disappears. The 20.75-inch width keeps the seat itself a normal, comfortable size, so the compactness comes out of the depth rather than out of your hips.
It's solid wood throughout, seat included. That means two things worth being straight about. The good: nothing to stain, nothing to reupholster, and you can wipe it down after a meal with a damp cloth. Kids, pets, red wine, none of it is a crisis. The honest part: a wood seat is firmer than an upholstered one, so if your dinners run three hours, add a tie-on cushion. The 30.71-inch back gives your shoulders somewhere to lean, which takes the edge off.
Wood chairs also have the longest life of anything at a dining table. Joints can be tightened, surfaces can be refinished, and the grain looks better after a few years of use than it does new.
Why It Works
- Slim 16.14" depth tucks fully under the table and keeps tight rooms walkable
- Solid wood, seat included, so spills wipe off and there's nothing to stain or reupholster
- 30.71" back gives your shoulders real support despite the compact frame
- 20.75" width keeps the seat comfortably sized for adults
- Repairable and refinishable, the kind of chair that outlasts a couple of dining tables
Ideal Placements
A small kitchen or apartment dining nook. This is the chair's core job. When the table is close to the counter or the wall, the shallow depth is what lets you actually pull a chair out and sit down.
A family table that takes a beating. No fabric means no anxiety. Wipe it, move on. Good for households with young kids or anyone who eats at the table every night.
A desk, a hallway, or extra seating you store somewhere. Light and slim enough to carry with one hand and stack against a wall when guests leave, then pull back in when you need it.
Styling Pairings
Wood on wood is fine as long as you commit. Either match the table closely or contrast clearly with a pale chair against a dark table, or the reverse. A near-match in a slightly different tone is the one combination that looks accidental.
Soften the room elsewhere, since the chair itself is all hard surface. A wool or flat-weave rug under the table, linen curtains, a runner or a couple of woven placemats. Tie-on seat cushions in a plain cotton or linen do double duty: comfort plus the bit of color the chair doesn't provide.
For contrast, aged brass or matte black lighting overhead, and unglazed ceramic or stoneware on the table. Rattan and jute sit naturally alongside wood if you want to lean warmer.
Vibe & Aesthetic
Simple and utilitarian, in the Scandinavian and shaker tradition. Honest material, no ornament, proportions driven by how it's used. It works in a farmhouse kitchen, a minimalist apartment, or a mid-century room, and it's the safest pick if your furniture came from several different places and eras.
