Description
Avenoire Sideboard
If the serving dishes live in a cupboard you can barely reach and the dining room wall is still empty, this is the fix. The Avenoire Sideboard is a marble-top wood buffet cabinet, 70.87" long, 17.72" deep, and 31.5" tall, built for people who host and need the plates, linens, and bar supplies stored in the room where they actually get used.
The case is solid wood with wood veneer, so the grain runs across the front instead of breaking panel to panel, and the doors have some heft when they close. The top is marble, which is the part you notice first and keep noticing. It is cool to the touch, it has its own veining, and it takes a sweating glass or a hot serving platter better than a wood surface would. Nearly six feet of it means two lamps at the ends and still room to lay out food in the middle.
Day to day the depth does the quiet work. At 17.72" it takes stacked dinner plates, serving bowls, folded tablecloths, and a few bottles, but stays slim enough that you can walk behind pulled-out dining chairs. The 31.5" height sits just under counter level, a comfortable spot to pour and plate, and low enough to leave a clean wall above for art or a mirror. Closed doors keep all of it out of sight, which is the difference between a dining room that looks set and one that looks used.
Why It Works
- Marble top that stays cool, resists water rings, and wipes down after a dinner party.
- 70.87" of length, enough for a lamp at each end plus a full serving spread in between.
- 17.72" depth fits stacked plates and linens while keeping the walkway behind chairs clear.
- Solid wood and veneer construction, with continuous grain across the front and doors that feel solid to close.
- 31.5" height sits just under counter level for easy serving and leaves the wall above open for art.
Ideal Placements
- The dining room with a long empty wall. Buffet when you host, china and linen storage the rest of the time, and the marble handles the drinks station.
- A living room that keeps collecting clutter. Cables, remotes, games, and paperwork go behind the doors, and the top becomes a proper lamp-and-art wall.
- An open-plan entry or hallway landing zone. Keys, mail, and bags get a home, and the stone surface shrugs off wet umbrellas and grocery bags.
Styling Pairings
Marble and warm wood together give you two directions to pull from. Lean warm with upholstered dining chairs in oatmeal, bouclé, or cognac leather, a wood table in a similar tone, and a wool or jute flat-weave rug. Lean cool with a glass or stone-top table, matte black or brushed steel lighting, and a greige rug. Either way, repeat the marble somewhere small, a tray, a lamp base, a pair of candlesticks, so it does not read as a one-off.
On top, keep it restrained so the stone stays visible: two ceramic lamps with linen shades at the ends, one tall branch or olive-stem arrangement, a small stack of books, and a wood or brass tray. Hang one oversized artwork or a long horizontal mirror about 6 to 8 inches above the marble.
Vibe & Aesthetic
Warm modern with a classic streak. Long horizontal lines, natural stone, real wood grain, no carving or fuss. It sits comfortably in mid-century, contemporary, and Japandi-leaning rooms, and it works in a more traditional dining room too as long as the rest of the furniture stays simple.
